Lani,
We have all been great.  Addie has really blossomed in the family.  She has grown quite a bit and is now as tall as the other male Shepherd we have.  Addie has been in some obidience training and is set to graduate next week.  We are looking for some additional advanced training for her.  She learns quite quickly and definately likes the rewards.  She still LOVES her ball and will play indefinately if we would.  I am including a recent picture of her on a trip to Cannon Beach.  She loved being out there, but did not like the sand in her mouth at all :0).  We received many compliments when we had her at the beach.  Everyone commented on her great temperment, shape and coloring. One couple said she was a great working dog specimen.  Great to hear, but we just love her for her!    We noticed that your website indicates that you may be having another litter soon.  We have talked about adding a female to the house sometime and we definately would love to bring on a little sis for Addie.  She fits so well into the family.  You definately brought a great dog to us - both inside and out!

Hi, Lani!  I hope you are well.  I wanted to share our day with you.  This is my entry for my "Kola blog for today.  It was a "dog day afternoon"!  She had a blast today!
Tuesday June 22nd:  This was a Dog Day Afternoon!  I took Kola to the HPD firing range this morning while I qualified with my weapon.  I left her in the car at the range.  I put the windows up, the AC on high, and the stereo up.  This attenuated the gunfire sounds, and made it part of the background.  She was perfectly fine.  She has heard gunfire many times at HPD in the distance, so this was good.  After shooting, Kola and I went to Riverside Park.  I took her to the boat launch, and she was able to go down the ramp into the Connecticut River.  She played a bit in the calm, still water of the launch.  Then, we went to the grassy soccer field area, where Ken and Donovan were (Ken is a local business owner, who takes his dogs to the park on his lunch break), with Ken’s two GSD males.  Kola played with the boys, and they were great.  I let her off leash in public for the first time.  She stayed around with the big boys.  After quite a while of playing, a guy with the nickname “T” stopped by with his two slightly older Rottie and GSD pups.  He saw the shepherds playing from his view on the highway.  He got off the highway and came to the park to see us.  He asked if his dogs could play.  We invited them, saying the more the merrier.  It was a whole bunch of fun for everybody!  Kola played probably for about an hour and a half, nonstop!  We took a break and stopped for about a half an hour at Mom & Dad’s.  Kola had a light snack and a little water. Then, we went to the South Windsor Bark Park.  Kola met many, many dogs, probably about twenty total.  We were there for about three hours total.  She was exhausted!  We then went to a soccer field away from the dog park area, and I gave Kola half a turkey neck, and some kibble.  Following this, Kola and I met up with Kira at Guido’s drive-in restaurant in Manchester.  We ate outside.  Kola met a waitress with rollerskates on.  She did great!  She had ice cream (again).  Finally, after quite the day, we went home.  We played a bit in the back yard, and then came inside, ate a small dinner, and she finally fell asleep.  What a wonderful day for Kola!
I'm having a ball with my new pup, and I'm doing everything I can to socialize her and ensure that she's a confident pup with no fear of anything.  Take care, Lani!

Lani and Family,
Pele and Kalio a few days from one year old.  Raising two German Shepherd Puppies has been a true learning experience for the whole family.  They are intelligent, high energy, babies.  Kalio(our male) came to us shortly before Pele(our female) graduated from Basic Obedience at the Emerald Dog Obedience Club.  At 8 months old Kalio only knew the "sit" command, but today he knows all the same commands as Pele.  In September, Kalio and Pele will begin an Introduction to K9 Nosework class.  As family pets Kalio and Pele have excelled, they are eager to please, and gentle with small children.  Our two and a half year old daughter has been practicing commands with them, and it is amazing how well they respond!  Kalio is almost 80lbs and nearly 4 times Helena's size and her head would easily fit in his mouth, but  to her he is a "best friend".
Thank You for Our Puppies,

Lani,
Just sending you this update picture of Raven. She is a wonderful shepherd with a very funny, goofy attitude in her. She makes us laugh a ton. She does seem to have a good ball drive and likes to jump and go in and out of things. So I will most likely try agility out on her come spring time. Anyways hope all is well and you enjoy the picture. Jeff

Lani,
I imagine you get many updates from all the new owners out there from your previous litters, well here is one more.  Not to bother you but just wanted to give an update on Elvis.

The picture I sent was taken dec 29th, he is one handsome GSD and very smart, learns quickly.  We love this guy and a great addition to our family.  He is one good sized boy, on 01/21/2011 (11months old) we walked to vet and weighed him, he weighed 94.4 lbs.  (he is not fat! I can feel his ribs and he has that hour glass shape when looking down on him, but he is one solid boy)  We measured his shoulder height the same date and I came up with 28.5 inches my husband came up with 29 inches.  He is impressive!

...we love our GSD.

Lani,
FINALLY getting around to giving you an update on Kiana. I thought my last German bred shepherd (Lena) was full of too much energy but Kiana puts a whole new meaning to the word. She's like a bouncing ball and very nosey. She has to investigate everything you have in your hands even if it means walking on her hind legs. Had to teach my other shepherds to sit up and Kiana just does it. That's how she keeps tab on Shasta (cockatiel). Poor Shasta has to stay in his cage now so he doesn't end up as a doggie snack. I was planning on waiting till she was 9 months old to have her spayed but she pulled a fast one and came into season at 7 1/2 months. Anyway she is a joy and loves to be loved, even thinks she can be a lap dog. Don't really know what possessed me but I got a Corgi, Quincey, only three months younger than Kiana. Lots of fun having two pups to train. Had to put all the stuffed toys away, some that Lena had as a pup cause both Kiana and Quincey are chewers. They both love to strip the covering off of tennis balls. Go figure. Have come to the conclusion that no matter how many dogs one has there is always something new.
Best wishes,
Donna
