'Ohana is family in Hawaiian - and that is what we consider our dogs - family.
We live in the beautiful Willamette Valley in Oregon, in a small rural community. It is a wonderful location, only a short distance from mountains, lakes, rivers, the ocean and shopping in Salem or Portland. We have four distinct seasons, none of them extreme.
We are a small hobby breeder, doing possibly one breeding a year. Our interest in the german shepherd dog actually began in childhood with the television star Rin Tin Tin. Who wouldn't want a friend and protector like that?! Then, about 30 years ago, Lani got her first german shepherd. Since that time we've had many of these wonderful dogs and with each new canine family member, have learned so much. Our dogs are not just pets, they are family members, living in the house with kids, cats and adults. They have jobs, such as Search & Rescue and agility. They travel with us, play with us, work with us, protect us and love us. The german shepherd dog is truly an exceptional creature that God has created for all of us to enjoy.
